CIO Association registered in Mumbai, under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, owns the Brand “CIOKLUB” (‘The KLUB’), and is the largest CIO group driven and managed by CIOs. The KLUB was formed in 2008 with an objective of sharing experiences, enhancing Knowledge and Exploring business solutions by leveraging the collective wisdom of large number of CIOs or senior level technology executives.

The primary objectives of CIO Klub are as listed below:

  1. To encourage an exchange of information on IT technology, security techniques, approaches, and problem solving and also evaluating new technologies to help the CIO community.
  2. To share insights and lessons learned through experience and IT implementation and create best practices, evolve standards, common interfaces.
  3. To promote continuing education, build alliance with education institution and to help expand knowledge and skills by providing a forum for exchange of ideas, conducting study circles, training programs, discussions, organizing course, lectures programs, seminars, workshops, publishing newsletters, magazines, establishing libraries.
  4. Promote the CIO profession by providing leadership and visibility to members.
  5. Encourage exchange of information on technology trends and evaluating new technologies to help the CIO community.
  6. Communicate to the Government, regulatory bodies, management of companies and organizations, universities, institutions, IS/IT professionals, and the public at large the importance of IT adoption and represent IT user community.
  7. Create a platform for testing new technologies, proof of concept laboratories, supporting new ventures by facilitating financial support to the projects, ventures and ideas.
  8. Developing a fraternity by sharing information on job opportunities. Arising out of this, a key initiative can be approaching companies for CIO placement. The Klub should approach companies stating that they can advertise on our portal for a fee where they might get good candidates thru CIO Klub platform. In case a CIO gets such job opportunity through our portal then (s) he must also contribute to the CIO Klub. Fulfilment of this objective also results into some revenue generation.
  9. To facilitate strengthening of the CIO community as a well bonded body, so as to achieve the above stated objectives.
  10. To work towards the CIO community achieving appropriate work-life balance

Membership to CIO KLUB is restricted to CIOs and IT Heads who oversee overall IT in their respective organizations based on pre-determined criteria as specified in Membership Document.

In exceptional cases where the KLUB wants to promote its activities (e.g. B and C class towns), the KLUB may admit functional heads or IT Heads who do not meet predetermined criteria.

CIO KLUB’s code of conduct applies to all members of the CIO KLUB and sets out the rules applicable in matters of professional ethics and behaviour. All members of the KLUB are bound to conform to the Code of Conduct, as under:

  • Members should support the professional education of the member community in enhancing their understanding of the governance and management of enterprise information systems and technology, including: audit, control, security and risk management.
  • Dealings with fellow members must be conducted in a positive and professional manner and in utmost courtesy and fairness; intellectual property rights, work results, confidential data and vendor/client relations of fellow members ought to be respected; and no engagement in harmful, disparaging or predatory tactics will be entertained. Members shall avoid all forms of unwarranted discrimination. Inform appropriate parties of the results of work performed; revealing all significant facts known to them.
  • Members will protect the intellectual property, confidential data of their organizations and that of CIO Klub too.
  • Members shall promote effective use of information technology as an instrument for social and economic good and act as good corporate citizens and fulfil their responsibilities to the community. Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of information obtained in the course of their activities unless disclosure is required by legal authority. Such information shall not be used for personal benefit or released to inappropriate parties.
  • Members shall neither use nor encourage the use of pirated software.
  • No racial/sexual discrimination based on caste or creed
  • Intimation and Invitation of all technical events organized by CIO Klub
  • Invitation for being speaker, panelist for various events organized by CIO Klub at Technical/Academic/Social/Media partners
  • Invitation for free family events (at least once a year)
  • Chapter specific other benefits (example: pick and drop facility) for events organized by CIO Klub.
  • Access to knowledge treasures kept on the CIO Klub website.

The membership is on annual renewable basis subject to payment of fees and satisfying the Criteria. The present membership fee is INR 1200/- per year. All members should maintain their membership by paying annual membership fees as applicable. Membership fees is non-refundable. A receipt will be issued for the payment made.

Member of a CIO Klub may undergo a job role change (in the current or different organization) to any role, other than that of a CIO, or he may retire from the job he may be out of the job for whatsoever reason. Under such circumstances he can continue to remain the member of the CIO Klub for two years from the date of the above stated event happening, subject to (s)he have been a paid member for preceding 2 years.

However, if the role change involves providing products and services to CIO community (i.e IT vendor), the membership will be terminated.

Member of the KLUB are expected to fulfil the following responsibilities

  • Share industry trends, newer technologies, initiatives and other relevant updates knowledge with the fellow members.
  • Adhere to the KLUB code of conduct.
  • Pay of the annual membership fee on timely basis.
  • Suggest possible nominees to the governing body who can make significant contributions in meeting the KLUB’s overall objective.
  • Play active role in various nominated sub-committees, teams and the KLUB events.
  • Adhere to their respective organizations policy around professional memberships, and information sharing

Presently there is no Life Membership of CIO Klub.

The membership can be terminated subject to following conditions:

  • Failure to comply with the code of conduct may result in suspension of member from the KLUB and termination thereafter.
  • Role has changed from CIO/IT Head to Business Role or CIOs who have become CEO, entrepreneurs or consultants and who would use CIO club membership and attendance to events as an opportunity to promote their own business.
  • Office bearer handling Klub money should ensure complete transparency of all the accounts and should not exceed their Authority and follow the approval process. Failure to adhere to this would be considered a serious breach and can result in immediate expulsion of the member after due enquiry
  • Membership of a member may be terminated if he/she has made a wrong declaration or has not paid fees for 12 months.
