Ms Nandita Jain Mahajan, Chief Privacy & Information Security Officer, IBM India/South Asia
Nandita Jain Mahajan is the Chief Privacy and Information Security officer for IBM India/South Asia and IBM Daksh Business Process Services. In these roles, her responsibilities include formulation of privacy and information security policies and strategies, implementation of data protection initiatives, and reducing organizational risks.

Ms. Mahajan conceptualized the Voice Masking solution in 2008 and is the co-inventor of the tool, which is used for masking sensitive personal information from call recordings. IBM holds a patent for this tool. She received the Dun & Bradstreet Best CTO Award for 2009 and the Microsoft Security Strategist Award in 2008 for demonstrating excellence in Security leadership in the area of Information Technology/ Information Technology Enabled Services (IT/ITeS). Under her leadership, IBM Daksh became the first Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) company to obtain the PCI-DSS certification In 2009, Network Computing conferred the Platinum EDGE Award for Excellence in IT to IBM Daksh for its innovative approach in security and privacy.
Over a career spanning two decades, Ms. Mahajan has held leadership roles with organizations such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), American Express, General Electric (GE), and Fidelity Investments before joining IBM. She was the Head of Systems at Fidelity Business Services, Pvt. Ltd. where she was responsible for end-to-end delivery of software and infrastructure services. She was the Quality Leader at GE Software Services, GECIS, in India, where she led the CMMI level 5 initiative. As the Director-Global Financial Technologies in American Express, Ms. Mahajan spearheaded the transition of application support and maintenance from the U.S. and U.K. to India in 1998. At TCS, she set up the Airlines Group and was responsible for account management and delivery of complex software projects.
Ms. Mahajan holds a B.Sc. degree from St. Stephen's College, New Delhi, India; holds MS and MBA degrees from Ohio University, U.S.A; and was elected to the Beta, Gamma, Sigma Honors society. She started her career at the University of California, Berkeley, USA, in 1985. Ms. Mahajan is a Certified Quality Analyst and Certified Information Security Manager.
In 2009, Ms. Mahajan was elected to the Advisory Committee of the Data Security Council of India (DSCI), which is a NASSCOM-sponsored, self-regulatory organization in India. She serves as the Delhi Anchor for DSCI. She is a regular speaker at industry events related to Security and Privacy.
Ms. Mahajan has contributed articles and papers to Cutter IT Consortium Journal, Tech Target, and Intelligent Enterprise, among others. She enjoys teaching and has taught sessions on Information Security and Privacy for management and IT graduates. She also spends time mentoring IT professionals.
