Rakesh Jinsi, Secretary General & National Director, SOS Children's Villages of India



Mr. Rakesh Jinsi, is an Electrical Engineering Graduate from Punjab Engineering College, Punjab University, Chandigarh.

He joined the Eicher Group as a Graduate Engineer Trainee in November 1977. During his tenure of 20 years, with them, he held various assignments in all major functions such as Materials, Manufacturing, Marketing, Exports, Plant operations etc. His last assignment with the Group was that of General Manager – Marketing of Eicher Tractors.

For the next 3 years, he took on the role of President, Hero Motors, the Scooter and Moped manufacturing arm of the Hero Group.

Thereafter, for a year, he served as the nominee of Chase Manhattan Bank, as the Managing Director of one of their investee companies in India.

He subsequently spent a year as the Chief Operating Officer (Tractors) of Force Motors Ltd.

In 2002 he became the Managing Director of the Indian joint venture of the Czech Heavy Truck manufacturer Tatra, a.s, based in Hosur(Tamilnadu). In addition to this, he also headed two other businesses of the Group; i.e Luxury Bus Seating Systems, set up in technical collaboration with Fainsa of Spain and the Auto Component manufacturing business.

In 2008, as the Business Director-India for New Holland Fiat Tractors, he headed their Agriculture Equipment Business in the country.

With an intent to contribute to the social sector and give back something to the society, in January 2009 he joined SOS Children's Villages of India, as the Secretary General and National Director. He heads the organization, reporting to the Board and is responsible for all functions viz Integrated Child Care, Programme Planning, Finance, Fundraising, Media, Communications and Human Resources. The organisation provides care to disadvantaged children of the society.
